Montana Pugh
Montana Pugh is an Alabama-born-and-raised set and production designer and artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Inspired by her grandmother who was a home stager that delighted in the decadence of Hollywood Regency style and her grandfather who was a residential builder specializing in mid-century designs, Montana has always felt connected to art and design.
Building her career from the ground up, Montana gained her start in the industry with MHS Artists the summer between her high school and college years. Mentored by Mary Howard, Montana trained under the full roster of MHS Artists during her undergraduate years. She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Art History and Theatre from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee and her Master’s degree from The University of Manchester through their Fine and Decorative Art and Design program with Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, England. Upon completing her MA, Montana returned to MHS to pursue her passion for all mediums of set and production design.
Montana’s sets feature dynamic and vivid storytelling informed by her nuanced background in fine and decorative art history and theatre. Her editorial and commercial work has been published in Vogue, Nylon, l’Officiel, Elle, Vanity Fair, The New York Times Magazine, and Ad Age. In addition to her work in print, Montana has designed music videos for artists such as New Kids On The Block, Marcus Mumford, and Chloe Flower.
