A born storyteller, CJ Dockery has always been fascinated by the narrative. Growing up in rural Texas, her summers were either spent outdoors, rambling through the woods on her family’s land, dreaming up imaginary adventures, or at her great-grandmother’s house, eating homemade divinity, listening to real ones. It was this love of stories that drew her to pursue a career in the arts.

During her college years, CJ studied every facet of visual storytelling - from interior design and set fabrication, to costume construction and special effects makeup, as well as acting and movement - finally earning a BA in Theatre with a minor in Interdisciplinary Art from the University of Houston. Relocating to New York after school, CJ spent her first professional years designing sets and costumes for commercials and branded content. She also began working with textile artist Magda Sayeg, traveling around the globe for museum installations in Taiwan, China, Italy, and at home in New York.

CJ joined the MHS team in 2013 and has been honing her skills ever since. She has worked with such clients as Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, People, Diane Von Furstenberg, and AMC networks. In addition to her work with Mary Howard Studio, CJ’s production design credits include feature films Butter On The Latch and HBO’s Living With Lincoln, IFC’s TV series Comedy Crib: The Show, and commercials for Essie, Kohl’s and Excedrin.
